Bay Area hip-hop female MC Rocky Rivera went from writing about other rappers to becoming one of them.
After working a short-lived position for Rolling Stone, she went on to become Rocky Rivera with her all female crew DJ Roza and emcee Irie Eyez.A loving mother and San Francisco after-school program teacher credits her experience as a journalist to help see the industry for its face value.
Don't be quick to compare her to Nicki Minaj though,the Filipino emcee has stated that she considers Nicki to be "one step forward and two steps back".Some of her influences are Tanya Stephens, Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah, Santogold and M.I.A.
